KCLA Sports Festival and Dinner

Tagged:

The KCLA Alumni and Student Sports Festival took place on Saturday, 7 September 2024, at the Honor Oak Park (HOP) Sports Ground, Brockley Rise. The event brought together approximately 160 competitors, with 60% being students, alongside 40 alumni spectators, fostering a spirited atmosphere of camaraderie and competition. The festival featured a range of sports, including 5-a-side football, netball, 7-a-side touch rugby, and 6-a-side hockey. Netball was exclusively played by female participants, while other sports had mixed-gender teams. Excellent facilities, including changing rooms, pitches, and a bar, were provided by HOP Grounds Manager, Sam Charlesworth. Additional catering, coordinated by KCL Catering’s Graeme Collie, was also made available. The contributions of Sam and Graeme were pivotal to the event’s success.

The day began with an opening at 9:30 AM, followed by sports matches from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Feedback suggested a later start of 10:30 AM might better accommodate travel for attendees. The event concluded with a presentation of cups and medals by the KCLA Chair.

The festivities continued into the evening with a dinner held at the Robens Suite, Guy’s Hospital, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, rounding off a memorable day of sportsmanship and community engagement.
