- The address was delivered by King’s College London alumna, Dr. I. Stephanie Boyce, the Former President of the Law Society of England and Wales. In March 2021, Dr. Boyce made history as the 177th President, becoming only the sixth woman and notably the first person of colour to hold the role. Her presidency coincided with a period of unprecedented global upheaval, including the Covid-19 pandemic. Amid these challenges, she led the legal profession with resilience, helping the Law Society uphold its core public value while adapting its operations to the realities of a digital world.
- Dr. Boyce’s leadership was marked by her steadfast commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Her vision is to leave behind a profession more inclusive than the one she entered—one where success is determined by merit, ability, and skill, rather than by socio-economic background or personal characteristics.
- She is widely regarded as a trailblazer and role model, embodying professionalism and inspiring countless aspiring lawyers. Her work bridges boundaries, promoting the legal profession within the business community and among SMEs, while also engaging with young students in local schools to encourage ambition and self-belief.
- Dr. Boyce’s legacy lies in her unwavering dedication to social mobility, equal opportunity, and access to justice. Her remarkable achievements continue to inspire the next generation of legal professionals and leaders.
