Our Annual Dinner and Duel Day Reenactment took place on Friday 21st March at Vintners’ Hall. This was our 4th at this venue. We were delighted to be joined by our Vice-Chancellor and President, Prof. Shitij Kapur and his wife, Sharmistha.

The evening began with an optional tour of the hall, recounting its amazing history and you guests were shown some beautiful, historical artefacts, including the carvings in the hall and Court Room and a fine staircase. This was be followed by the Reception and Duel Day Celebration. The after dinner speech was given by our distinguished guest the Rt Hon Lord Willetts FRS.

The Rt Hon Lord Willetts FRS is the President of the Resolution Foundation’s Advisory Council and of the Intergenerational Commission and Chair of the UK Space Agency. He is a visiting Professor at King’s College London and Chair of the Foundation for Science and Technology. He served as the Member of Parliament for Havant (1992-2015), as Minister for Universities and Science (2010-2014) and previously worked at HM Treasury and the No. 10 Policy Unit. Lord Willetts was accompanied by Pierrette Hebga Meinrad, a former Council member, who works for Lord Willetts, and who we were delighted to see return for this occasion.
The dinner was very well attended and guests commented that the Duel Reenactment play was exceptional this year and the event one of the best.
