KCLA’s Inaugural Festival of Sport 2024
Event Date: –
- KCLA staged a most exciting and successful day of sports (mixed 6-a-side hockey, mixed 7-a-side touch rugby, mixed 5-a-side football and women’s netball) from 0930-1530 on Saturday 7 September at Honor Oak Park Sports ground, Brockley Rise. The day was open to all King’s College London Alumni and current students and entry was free.

- Each of the 4 sports nominated a student rep and alumni rep to coordinate individuals and teams with the emphasis being on maximum participation and enjoyment. There was a short prize-giving ceremony after the sports with awards of cups and medals. Our Sports Officer, Charlie Beardmore, played a huge part in organising the day with help from his team and catering at Guy’s. Many thanks to all who supported us throughout the planning stage.
- It was great fun, and the teams were enthusiastic and energetic. Their kit also looked very professional, as you can see from the photos. The weather was kind to us and it was mild and dry. Our Chair, Sue Searle, presented the cups and medals to all the winning teams and runners-up.

- We socialised in the bar afterwards before transferring to the Ruben’s Suite at Guy’s Hospital for an excellent dinner in the evening. This was followed by music, dancing, singing and some lively entertainment and fun.

- All in all, it was an enjoyable event and there were strong calls to repeat this next year!
